Job Duties: Key tasks and responsibilities:Develop relationships and support statutory and voluntary service agencies to develop their capacity to ensure the views of service users, the issues that affect them, and/or their active involvement in policy and service development is encouraged.Support the development of service users, through equipping them with the skills and capacity to participate in relevant groups.Openness and flexibility for adapting to the needs and views of service users.Support the role of peer mentors within RSUN.Provide opportunities for service users to share their views and experiences, by participating at a level that suits their needs.Provide support, information and advice to existing service user groups, and assist in the generation of new ones, particularly in areas where none exist.Be responsible for setting up regular meetings of local networks and the regional network, guided by requirements of service users.
Qualifications / Experience: Essential criteria:At least 2 years' experience working with service users/people with lived experience.Ability to organise efficiently, including meetings, training and other events.Ability to listen effectively and support the needs of service users.Demonstrated understanding of substance use, addiction and the factors which contribute.Experience of supporting and motivating service users. Experience of taking accurate notes at meetings.Ability to communicate and develop relationships with a range of people, including staff team, vulnerable adults, senior staff in related services and government officials.Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution in a professional and respectful manner and the ability to maintain professional boundaries. Confidence and motivation to drive the service user agenda forward at both a strategic and operational level.Understand the importance and value of service user involvement.
