Job Duties: To organise programmes and activities with a focus on building resilience, encouraging coping skills and life skills, improving confidence and promoting healthy lifestyles. To deliver activities so that children from BAME communities have more opportunities to integrate and engage. To support children to access and disseminate information about education, progression and opportunities. To support the older children with college applications, job applications and interview skills to maximise their potential in education and gain employment. To promote the engagement of 0-4 children from BAME communities in the creche. To deliver activities with a focus on integration, English language development, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. To ensure that children have access to IT equipment so that they can engage in on-line education activities throughout the COVID emergency.

Qualifications / Experience: Essential:- Third level qualification (degree) e.g. Social Work or Youth & Community Work, EducationLevel 2 Maths and English. Experience of liaising with relevant statutory agencies. Up to date knowledge of legislation, policy and services in relation to children and families including Child Protection. Understanding of the ethos and value base of Womens Centre Derry.Desirable:- A minimum of 1 year experience supporting children and young people to understand their education and life opportunities. Competency in IT and social media. Recognised counselling qualification. Experience of working in the Community Sector with BAME communities, families and children.Group facilitation skills. Recognised childcare qualification.Skills/Abilities:- Good practical skills in meeting the needs of children and young mothers. Counselling/Listening ear skills. Ability to work on your own initiative. Good verbal communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team.
