Job Duties: As a Senior Scientific Officer, you will lead a team of professional scientists.Main dutiesDevelop strategic interventions to promote the role of occupational hygiene in the workplace.Develop the role of Scientific Services and the associated competence of the team, in line with organisational need.Develop and monitor progress of the annual operating plan for the team.Oversight of the delivery of the work programme, including the commissioning and allocation of work.Develop and deliver agreed workplace occupational hygiene projects.Plan, manage and carry out technical investigations.Provide occupational hygiene expertise and opinion in support of the Inspectorate.Attend court as a witness as required.Plan and implement expenditure of the budget allocation in accordance with NICS good practice.Help develop operational policy and procedural guidance on key occupational health topics.

Qualifications / Experience: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIAA degree or equivalent qualification in a science related discipline.WithAt least 3 years experience in an accredited laboratory environment within the past 10 years.OrAn HNC or equivalent qualification in a science related discipline.WithAt least 5 years experience in an accredited laboratory environment within the past 10 yearsANDA full Category B driving licence, valid for Northern Ireland that will enable the candidate to carry out the duties of the post in full. SHORTLISTING CRITERIAAt least two modules achieved from the following list of British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) qualifications which states in the CIB.
