Job Duties: Participate in the collection of specimens from wards on site including urgent and Category 3 samples which are appropriately contained and packaged (samples from theatres and wards may contain body fluids and body parts).Receive sort and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory departments including urgent samples.Ensure samples are identified and handled appropriately e.g. referral samples to Belfast and appropriate storage conditions are adhered to.Preparation and delivery of specimen containers and laboratory reports to wards on site.Delivery of blood for transfusion and albumin to wards and theatres.Collection and delivery of infected material to disposal area for incineration and collection of other rubbish.Please visit: www.jobs.hscni.net to see Job Description and Personnel Specification.
