Job Duties: The responsibilities for this post will include:Leading, motivating and managing the Trading Standards Service's teams of professional, administrative and technical support staff in delivering its targeted business objectives. Developing and implementing appropriate organisational, operational, staffing and development strategies and programmes. Providing TSS with clear strategic direction and providing a cohesive strategic vision for the regulation and promotion of fair trading in Northern Ireland, including the creation and dissemination of key consumer protection messages and themes to targeted sectors and groups.Managing, coordinating and delivering a long term Trading Standards specific training programme to TSS staff including new trainee Inspectors through a three year professional qualification and new enforcement officers (fair trading and market surveillance)
Qualifications / Experience: Applicants must have, by the closing date for applications:A Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (DCATS) or equivalent Trading Standards qualification as deemed relevant by the Department;AND A minimum of 2 years' experience, gained within the last 7 years, of effective leadership, setting strategic direction and managing resources to successfully deliver business objectives in a Trading Standards environment;AND A minimum of 2 years' experience, gained within the last 7 years, of building constructive, positive and collaborative partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior management, to effectively deliver significant organisational objectives in a Trading Standards environment;
