Job Duties: Assist the chef with all areas of cooking including offering a variety of high-quality foods and menus including home baking and comfortsAssist with some food preparation tasks and cooking basic mealsPrepare, present and serve / deliver food and refreshments, ensuring awareness of special needs for modified dietsPlate and present food in an appealing manner and to a high-quality visual standard according to individual requirementsRotation of dated foods for disposal, manage correct systems for coding food and maintain Menu BoardsFollow maintenance schedules, use of equipment; and reporting any faults with equipment to maintenance through appropriate documentationEnsure that the kitchen is maintained to a high standard including, hygiene and quality and you will help to maintain external standards/regulations

Qualifications / Experience: Hygiene, catering or cooking qualification is desirable but not essentialMinimum 1 year experience working in a busy kitchenExperience of preparing food and practicing appropriate hygiene standards in a busy kitchenKnowledge of food storage and hygiene protocols (use by dates, etc.)Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, patience, and empathyAbility to form appropriate supportive relationships with residents and family members where appropriateAbility to use initiative to resolve issues and follow correct reporting procedures
