Job Duties: The Capital Projects Manager will be responsible for the effective day to day management of the delivery of the Council Capital Projects programme assigned to the Corporate Services Directorate and for and implementing the Councils strategies, within their areas of responsibility. In this capacity, the post-holder will provide effective management to their section(s) ensuring service excellence and value for money.The post-holder will support the Head of Capital Projects to create a high performing culture through their contribution to the development and delivery of the key objectives of the Directorate and Department. They will support transformational change within the Capital Projects Section ensuring and implementing integration of new and current functions and responsibilities.They will assist in the delivery of high quality services across the Capital Projects Section by using performance management to drive continuous improvement and by effectively using Councils resources.
Qualifications / Experience: Have a minimum of a Level 5 qualification e.g. HND or equivalent in a construction related discipline e.g. Architecture, Building Surveying, Building Studies, Construction, Civil / Structural Engineering.At least 2 years relevant post qualification experience working in the construction industry on the design, procurement and project management of capital construction projects.Previous experience of management of consultants and contractors.Previous experience of delivering construction contracts using NEC3.Proficient in the use of AutoCAD (including version 2017). Ability to interpret working drawings and specifications. Must be able to demonstrate competence in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Spreadsheets, databases, email and MS Projects.Knowledge of procurement and project management for construction projects from inception to completion.Working knowledge of statutory regulations and other associated building legislation.
