Job Duties: To work with and under the supervision of the class teacher, assisting him/her in meeting the needs of children with Learning Difficulties.Providing one-to-one support for designated children when and where appropriate.Helping the children to develop academically, socially and in terms of independence and self management.Liaising with the class teacher and SENCO to review their progress. Prepare materials as required.Set up of various items PE/outdoor play equipment, Assume responsibility for supporting/supervising groups of children or individual children on specified activities, as directed by the teacher.Participate in classroom activitiesProvide continuity of adult care, e.g. supervising play and cloakrooms including hand washing and correct use of toilet facilities.Any other reasonable request that will support the smooth running of the classroom/school.
Qualifications / Experience: Essential:Recent and relevant experience of working with young children in a learning environment;An understanding of a play based approach to children's learning and the value of outdoor experiences;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;A sound knowledge of child development for children aged 4 to 11 years;Ability to develop effective relationships with colleagues, parents, and outside agencies; Reliable; Co-operative;Approachable; Ability to work as part of a team; Ability to use initiative;Empathetic;Enthusiasm; Committed to Integrated EducationDesirable:Recent and relevant experience of working with children with learning difficulties or specific health issues;A Childcare & Education qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3; Creativity;Ability to use computer and software packages;Experience/knowledge of the support needed specifically relevant to the child's condition
